Competitive exams like these have a strong hold over ones mental well being. A lot of factors seem beyond our control. We plan our schedules with precision, thoroughly read every chapter, try mugging up as many concepts and spend hours reading. Somehow we cannot help but think about something having gotten left out. In moments of stress what we are left with, is self assurance.

Ask yourself if everything that could’ve been done, did we do it? And you will realize that most of the time, the answer is a yes. You have done your best, now is the time to wait for your result. The anxiety is natural, but staying in a persistent state of anxiety or stress leads to an unnecessary level of cortisol in your body. Few of us can see its results manifesting as an attack to our immunity, irritability, and slowly it starts affecting the people around us.

If we spent a year preparing for a particular exam, we can spend 2 months restoring our emotional and physical well being.

Here are a few strategies to focus:

● Sleep Schedule- try getting your sleep schedule back on track. Aim for at least 6 to 8 hours of sleep daily. Maintain sleep hygiene and put off your screens and devices an hour before sleep.

● Diet- indulge in a diet that not only balances your nutrition but also balances your emotional well being. Indulge in a healthy amount of comfort foods, make sure the food you eat is not simply satisfying hunger but also nourishing you.

● Socialize: you and your fellow batchmates and friends who have given the same exams and went through the similar kind of emotional turmoil need to hear each other out and be there for each other. Go out for a movie with them, have a meal together or simply spend time at a park listening to each other.

● Connect with Nature: Going on a hike or a walk out in the open will help in alleviating stress through the release of endorphins caused by the physical exercise. Practice mindfulness and listen to the natural sounds created by birds, the winds or simply the rain, give yourself a moment in silence to contemplate.

Lastly, appreciate yourself and your effort for always pulling through, no matter the results. Forgive yourself for being tough during sensitive moments. The waiting period will seem much easier before the results.
