Question : I want to talk about me being ridiculously careless about my studies and boards, being a class12 pcm student

Dear Teentalker,

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your concerns.

It takes a lot of courage for you to be honest with yourself and admit that you’re being very careless in your studies and that, too in class 12th (Science stream). So, at this stage, the question you might want to ask yourself is, ” What could be the reason for the same?”, “Is it because of extreme nervousness or tension?” or “Is it because of this feeling of extreme tiredness?” This feeling of exhaustion can come about when you’re studying too much and not getting enough rest and sleep.

The whole attitude of being careless can also come about while studying difficult topics and subjects, which makes you uncomfortable and so you’d rather avoid them, than deal with them. One way to deal with this discomfort is to schedule a study time for difficult topics and subjects at that time of the day, when you feel fresh and have high energy levels.

You can also try using mindmaps in order to help you remember important concepts. You can watch a video to learn more about mindmapping

To familiarize yourself with concepts from subjects you find difficult, you might also wish to consider watching videos from Khan Academy

Taking breaks between studies and staying away from technology during that period will surely help! To know more about cultivating healthy habits and studying well, please read the following article on 5 habits that will help you to score better in exams:

Understanding a little more about procrastination would also help. Please read the following article on ‘5 ways to deal with procrastination’
