Dear Teentalker,

Thanks for sharing your concerns.  I can understand your anxiety in such a situation.  But the good part is that you accept your problem and trying hard to overcome this. This itself is a positive sign. You also need to elaborate more on the note that since when are you feeling like this, what triggered this issue, have you tried to intorspect yourself also in terms of why you are an anti social, etc. Do clarify me more in this regard.

It’s worth incorporating some extroverted character traits because being social and a good communicator can open many doors and simply make you happier. It requires a lot of practice and mental work to become more social.  It’s not a process that’s accomplished overnight. It’s a process of enriching your personality and takes place in many small steps. But I’m sure that becoming more social is possible for everyone. Do follow these steps:

1. Take baby steps: Don’t try to suddenly take huge steps. To become more social you need to learn how to expand your comfort zone, slowly. If you have a tendency to do things alone or with an old friend, just try going a step further.

2. Chat with unknown persons also: Master chatting with people you’re unfamiliar with so you can speak to people who you actually want to get to know later. Find your own way to approach strangers and open your mind to them.

3.Behave like a likeable person: Like, smile often, speak clearly and at a normal pitch, do compliments others often, etc

4.Don’t try to control yourself often: Simply enjoy being with people, without questioning everything you’re going to say a million times. Become less judgemental regarding yourself.

You really need to work hard upon yourself. We can only advise you, but its you who has to take the charge. So, stay positive, come here often for counselling, and within months I am sure you will start noticing the changes.

Hope this helps, if you have any other query do connect online for chat between 11am-8pm or drop us an offline message.

Regards,
