Dear Teentalker,
Thanks for sharing your issue. I can understand the dilema of your mind. The only meaning to life is to get self realised which means,'who we are' i.e whether we are a soul or a body. And the answer to this question is that we are just a 'soul'. When we understand this then we can say that this is the first step towards self realisation. And this realisation will help us to not get influenced by materialism.

Nobody's life is without an exclusive package of purpose, meaning or worth. These are not given to us easily on a silver platter, but needs a lot of searching, learning and discovering. Our meanings and purposes are all different. Just for a while, sit down and write down all your positive, intrinsic potentials, passion, talents, interests, drives and zero in on what really your mind body and soul likes to do.
See what unfolds and manifests. It may be anything, it is in there that the meaning and purpose of your life is coded. Life is full of meaning, you just need to find it. I know a guy who was an engineer suddenly turn into a personality trainer and coach and one more who quit a high flying job to start an NGO for underprivileged children and orphans.
More than meaning, I think purpose in life would be a better way to see things as that is where our individual meanings of life are defined, and our duties clarified. I like to further add, that meaning is something we need to find within ourselves in what we do or accomplish. In terms of contentment, fulfillment and joy that we derive from it. Whatever that may be, it is unique and exclusively ours.
Hope this helps. Should you have any other query, do connect online for chat between 11am-8pm or drop us an offline message.
