Dear Teentalker,
Thank you for attending the Teentalk India session at your school, for reaching out and sharing your concerns. On behalf of the team, I also wanted to apologize for the delayed response, since there was a technical issue which has now been resolved.
It must really hurt a lot when your close friends drift away from you and don't value your opinions anymore. At such times, you might probably be asking yourself, " What did I do?" or "Is something wrong with me?" or "Why me" or it could be any or many other questions going through your mind that have not been me.....
At such times, you might probably be asking yourself, " What did I do?" or "Is something wrong with me?" or "Why me" or it could be any or many other questions going through your mind that have not been mentioned over here.
Here are a few suggestions to help you get through this phase:
1.Change is constant: As much as we all like to believe that our school friends will be our best friends for life, the reality is quite the opposite. This change is more likely to be evident during the teen years as everyone enters a phase where they are trying to figure themselves out! In the process, some people may come to realize that they can no longer relate to the friend they were once close to because of different interests.
2.Figure yourself out: You can get started by working on tools such as ' 20 things I love about myself', 'The MPS Process', 'Boost your self-esteem', 'Automatic thoughts' and 'You are so worth it'. 3. View unpleasant experiences as lessons of life: Spend some time by yourself and figure out your values by working on the tool 'My Values Worksheet'. Please click on the link to know more: http://teentalkindia.com/toolbox/3
Then ask yourself, if you and your friends have similar or different values? Also, find out what are the valuable lessons you've learnt, what to do in the future, what not to do and move ahead accordingly. 4.Make new friends: Just because some people don't like you anymore, it doesn't mean, no one in the school likes you. If, for example, your classmates are ignoring you, then during the breaks, you can talk to the students from another class. You may also want to try talking to those students from your class with whom you've never interacted before. 5.Learn to stand up for yourself: In other words, be assertive and getting through the situations will become relatively better. You can learn more about assertiveness by watching relevant videos. Please click on the following links to know more:
