My friends don't give me enough importance. Does that mean something is wrong with me?

Question : Few of my friends call me a kid and never give me much importance. I also kinda feel some of my friends are differentiating on the basis of money, a person has and also how pretty they look, what they wear and give less importance to me. Teentalker , 15-year-old

Dear Teentalker,

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your concerns. It sounds like you're feeling the pressure to look, dress and behave in a certain way, even if you don't necessarily agree with your friends and that's okay. Remember, how you feel about yourself, needs to be based on self-acceptance and self-love. It should not be based on how much importance others are giving you or rather not giving you.

In the long-term, it is important that you get to know yourself better; become aware of your strengths, weaknesses, your short-term and long-term goals, values and follow that path accordingly.
