Being aware of your values is extremely important as you are more likely to live a content life if there is a match between your values and the kind of surroundings you are living or studying in.
Choose your friends wisely: Just like being aware of your values is important, know that you are more likely to be truly comfortable with others if there is a match between your value system as well as theirs. Sometimes, it is unfortunate, that it takes a few bad or unpleasant experiences for us to see the other person's true colours, but as the saying goes, "Better late than never!" Learn to be assertive: Being firm and respecting other people's boundaries as well as your own is essential in order to do well in life and be happy. It is also okay to stay a little selfish, because let's be honest, not everyone is worthy of your goodness and sometimes the best way to deal with people is to talk to them in a language they understand. Focus on your short-term and long-term goals: One of the best ways to get away from situations like these is to rise above the negativity by focusing on your short-term and long-term goals. To begin with, you can start by asking yourself questions along the lines of 'What makes your life meaningful?', 'What brings you pleasure?' and 'What are your strengths?'
