Dear Teentalker,
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your concern with us. The echo of what someone has said about you keeps repeating over and over in your head. You can’t seem to shut it out. Once it is in your mind, it makes you feel things you wish you didn’t. This must be so tiring and frustrating for you.
During our lifetime, we meet all kinds of people. We all have different values and principles, so when we meet someone who differs from us, there’s bound to be conflict. It is completely natural to think about what other people say or think. These are the steps you can take to make sure that you don’t get hurt by others and what they say.
Try to recognize that these are just mere thoughts going through your mind. Replace the thought with a more positive one. It could be a good memory, an optimistic view of the future or some cool scenario you’d really like to live.
Change your surroundings instead and find positive people. It will make a difference and people may not always say hurtful things to you.
To not let others hurt you, you ought to stand up for yourself and make a retort when you disagree with what they say. This allows for expression, which helps to clear the negativity within you.
People who are saying these words to us usually are experiencing a negative emotion themselves, which is causing them to hurt on the inside. Some people are able to process that pain, but often react to it before responding appropriately.
When we can love and accept ourselves so fully and deeply, we are able to acknowledge our power. With this heightened sense of empowerment and confidence, nothing anyone says can affect us regularly.
Don’t let the hurtful words of others take control of your mind. Your mind is your own and sacred to you, so try and manage your thoughts and remind yourself that you are capable of feeling confident despite what anybody says.
Hope this helps, if you have any other query, do chat with us from Monday through Saturday between 11am and 7pm or leave us an offline message. .
