Dear Teentalker,
Thanks for reaching out and sharing your concern.
As many people are getting affected by Coronavirus, everyone is scared of getting infected themselves. This anxiety is quite common but it needs to be addressed.
The first thing you need to tell your friend is to not lose hope and educate herself about the treatment centers in their area. It is always good to be prepared mentally and physically for any situation.
The second thing that she can do is to get her mother tested if she has developed any symptoms. If the result comes negative, then it is great. But if unfortunately, the results come positive, then there are two options available. As per government rules, a person who is infected with this virus but doesn't experience severe symptoms and has a separate place to quarantine himself herself, then he or she is allowed to stay in home quarantine. So he or she can think about a better option.
It is true that dealing with this situation won't be easy for your friend and her family, both mentally and physically and it is good that you are there with her in her bad times. You can provide her mental support, keep reminding her that things will go back to normal and her mother will recover soon. You can also talk to more people and get more information about the treatment procedures in your city and inform her about those. You can talk to her about how and why she should take care of herself in this difficult situation and be her mother's support system.
Hope this helps! If you need further clarifications, please feel free to write back or you can chat with the Teentalk Experts from Mondays to Saturdays : 9 am to 7 pm.
