Dear Teentalker,
Thanks for reaching out.
Firstly I’m really happy to know that you are out of it safe and healthy. It is great to see you deal with the situation bravely. Looking at the current wave of cases, especially some that are relapsing, I understand that the hesitation in your mind is not unreasonable.
That being said, it is great that you’re being hesitant to go near your family members. The emotion that you’re feeling is completely normal. However, amidst this, one thing that you need to understand is that your family loves you and will be there for you through thick and thin. .....
Give yourself some time to getting used to the normal. Maintain hygiene and distancing indoors, even if the fear of spreading the virus doesn’t exist. This will give you some sense of security, helping you feel that you’re doing the right thing.
You also shared that you’re experiencing the guilt of having had infected others. However, you need to make yourself understand that even if you did infect anyone, had you known about it, you wouldn’t have acted in a way to harm anyone.
That being said, this stands as a clear example of the importance of social distancing, and people who choose to step out for loitering without proper protection surely can see this as a lesson to learn from.
In case the feeling of regret or guilt engulfs your conscience, making you feel insecure and sad, speaking to psychologists that are dedicated to working with COVID-19 patients could help in finding a resolution for this guilt. You can also chat with our Teentalkindia experts.
