Dear Teentalker,
Thanks for sharing your concern.
Both professions have different responsibilities and aptitude. Being a judge brings you more authority and power but less financial benefits; however, being a corporate lawyer is similar to a marketing professional with less authority but more financial benefits.
Good corporate lawyers make lots of money but they need to keep themselves updated with the new laws and how to smartly use those laws for their clients.
To be judge, you would be required to clear exams and start as a judge in session court and with experience and performance rise to high courts, etc.
Being a corporate lawyer also needs lots of knowledge base, good convincing qualities, and public speaking. In Corporate Law, you rise with the success in winning cases for your clients.
It depends on your aptitude and qualities. As explained above, being a successful corporate lawyer not only requires good and up to date knowledge but also good public speaking, and marketing skills. It's like doing a business while being a judge you need to be a very good listener and able to analyze various arguments and facts presented.
It is true that the judge gets less financial benefits compared to corporate or litigating lawyer as we know judge has to be a secluded person altogether to be away from bribery and corruption as he decides the case. Whereas the corporate lawyers always have an option to demand as much salary as they want from any specific company also in some cases they can take personal cases simultaneously for financial growth. Considering litigating lawyers, they do not have any bar on their charges taken per case hence, no bar on income source.
