Dear Teentalker,

Military/Army psychologists work with military personnel to mitigate mental and emotional problems associated with , separation from family and other hardships of military service. As a military psychologist, your main priority is to keep servicemen mentally fit for service. There is high demand for trained psychologists to work in the military, and these positions often offer high pay, retention bonuses, and specialized training programs.
Entry into Indian defence services is via exams conducted by UPSC for Short service Commission or Indian military academy or combined defence services exams.
Post graduates in psychology need to study additional courses in military psychology and then clear exam to work as psychologist with indian defence. MPhil in clinical psychology from RCI affiliated institute is highly prefered. National school of leadership has certificate in military psychology and counseling course - https://nsl.ac.in/Certificate-in-Military-Psychology-and-Counseling-Level-1/ Bharathiar University in Coimbatore has MSc Applied psychology (military) course Http://sde.b-u.ac.in/ You can refer to the website - https://www.drdo.gov.in/labs-and-establishments/defence-institute-psychological-research-dipr
So anyone who wishes to work in Indian defense, needs to have MPhil Clinical Psychology with RCI affiliated institution and has to clear entrance exams mentioned above. Diploma or certificate in military psychology helps. The career pathway can be like this - BA / BSc Major in Psychology + MA Clinical Psychology + Mphil from RCI + entrance exams Recruitment in Indian Defense for psychology is very rare and has limited scope and opportunity.
