Dear Teentalker,
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your concerns.
It seems like you already have some idea in terms of what career you want to pursue and that's wonderful!!! Dear Teentalker,
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your concerns.
It seems like you already have some idea in terms of what career you want to pursue and that's wonderful!!! However, it is even better if you take the time to get to know yourself better and use the following tools such as SMART goals, The MPS Process, 20 things I love about myself and The Values Worksheet in order to get the much needed clarity.
The fabric of communities in most parts of the world, still expect women to follow traditional gender norms. Sometimes, there are consequences to be faced, if you dare to question the way things work. However, it is possible to break such barriers in order to develop your identity and develop your vision, while demonstrating the required effort, enthusiasm and patience. To begin with, you can try watching movies with themes related to your long-term goals with your parents and then with the passage of time, introduce them to the concepts of multiple intelligence, mindsets and make sure that there is synergy between your values, personality, attitude and the place where you actually end up studying, working and living in the future.
Bringing about a change in the familial mindset is going to take some time, but the effort will be well worth it!
Hope this helps, if you have any other query do connect online for chat from 11am-8pm or drop us an offline message.
