Sometimes, I don't end up reading the questions carefully while writing my exams. What do I do?

Question: Hi, sometimes I don't read the questions carefully while writing my exams and as a result, I don't end up answering the questions correctly. However, when I'm practicing the same questions at home, solving them seem a lot easier. Please help me as I wish to overcome this big problem which I have been dealing with for sometime now! Dear Teentalker,

Thank you for reaching out and addressing your concerns. Getting anxious before and while taking a test is normal. In fact, anxiety experienced in moderation is essential in order to do well in tests/exams. However, it is a matter of concern when one gets extremely nervous and as a result, ends up overlooking important aspects of the questions.

So, here are a few tips I would like to suggest in order to help you manage your test anxiety:

  • Take a few deep breaths before getting started with the exam and relax a bit!
  • Get a good night's sleep before the test!
