Even if you're single, you can still celebrate Valentine's Day in a different flavor that will make you feel happy.

When February approaches, many teens get anxious for the 14 of February - Valentine’s Day. In case you are in a relationship, you get worried about how to make it special for your loved one, create a statement and win his/her heart. If you’re single, however, the story is entirely different. You either feel like its the right time to approach your crush or feel sad about getting over memories from a recent breakup. This day surely brings a ton of stress.

In case you’re single and feel like this day isn’t made for you, you couldn’t be more wrong. You too can enjoy this day, doing things that make you feel happy and celebrate the feeling of love in a different flavor.

Going On A Solo One-Day Trip

This day could be a day of self-exploration, a day to love yourself, and what better way to make yourself feel better than a relaxing one-day getaway -- maybe for a rejuvenating trek, or a fun day at a nearby beach. You could also plan to visit museums or embark on a food-exploration journey. The options are endless.

A Relaxing Day To Pamper Yourself

If you don’t feel like traveling afar, you can plan a day to stay indoors and pamper yourself. Maybe explore a new hairstyle, or indulge in a relaxing massage. Or just end up relaxing on your couch with a book in one hand and a refreshing drink in the other.

Taking Your Parents Out For a Date

You don’t need a lover to go on a cool Valentine’s Day dinner, you can even go with your father and mother. While they rekindle their romance, you can capture their cute expressions in your phone camera while indulging in warm family time.

Spending the Entire Day With Your Bestie

Is your bestie as single as you on Valentine’s Day? Why not spend the whole day together? You could go to the movies, have delicious lunch and end up spending a proactive day in the park during the evening. You could also think of hitting an amusement or waterpark.

Just Sleeping At Home

In case you don't want to do anything above, there is no harm in just laying down in your bed and sleeping for hours, maybe indulge in binge-watching shows online. Just chilling at home is its own reward.

How to be happy, alone and lead a positive life

Living alone might seem sad and depressing, but it doesn't have to be that way. Here are some ways of feeling positive while living alone.

Humans are social animals- our lives as humans revolve around how we interact and deal with people in our society. And this basically means that we are somewhat dependent on other people for our functioning. These people come together in times when we’re happy and also when we are in grief, they provide support and help in thick and thin of life alike.

These activities have always made us think that having friends or family together is the norm and staying alone can be regarded as something out of the ordinary. But is it really so? Not really. One can truly lead a life living alone and still being very happy. They can very well be self-dependent for everything and still feel content.

When you think about such a life, it surely feels odd- if you’re used to the ‘normal’ life that people follow. However, in case you are wondering if you wanted to lead such a life, you very well can, by following a few guidelines to prepare your mind.

Alone vs lonely

While you may think that both the words alone and lonely can be used synonymously, they, in fact, have two varied meanings. A person is alone when he is by himself. On the other hand, a person is lonely when he feels abandoned or sad due to isolation. Get it? A lonely person is someone who feels that he is left out or isolated from society. But if you take being lonely positively- you learn to be happy alone.

Love yourself

Here what is crucial is that you should make your mind understand that in this world, there are only a few people who can truly love you for the way you are, without pretending, without showing off. However, no one from these few people can love you more than yourself.

Removing expectations from the equation

Being lonely only hurts when you expect someone to do things a certain way- and when those certain things don’t happen, they lead to disappointment, regret, resentment, among other emotions. But if you remove expectations out of the equation, you’ll feel self-sustained, without feeling negative.

Learning to live alone with positivity

Leading a life alone isn’t an easy task, but what makes the whole experience easier is when you have things that make you feel happy, and happiness equals positivity. Whether it is finding a passion like music, dancing, or hobbies like arts and crafts, or something simple as going for walks or long drives. You can enjoy such experiences alone, feel happy and have an optimistic outlook.
